Lexis' Blessing

Lexis Belle was blessed by her daddy on Sunday September 5, 2010, in Provo, Utah. In the blessing circle from Danny's family was: Danny, his brother Kevin, and his bro-in-law Sean. From the Davis side it was: Grandpa Phil, my brothers Alan, Russell, Mike, Mark, and bro-in-law Jeremy.

It's truly an amazing experience to witness my child being held in the arms of my dad and brothers, whom I love so much. I am grateful to each of them for their daily worthiness of the priesthood that has directly blessed my little family.

After the blessing we enjoyed a luncheon in Grandpa and Grandma's backyard with family and friends.

"Mom, can't you see I'm busy here? More cake please!!"

I'm pretty sure Tish is going to kill me for this one. haha.

Some of my childhood bfs. So great to see them, as always. Love you!!

Anyway, I obviously didn't jump on the photo op here like I should have; I wish I'd have gotten more pics of Lexis in her dress, and those in the circle, etc. Sorry, Lexi!!!

Say Uncle!!!

Great uncles, and I mean quality, not ancestorally, are always worthy of their own post.

I LOVE MY BROTHERS!!! I can count on them every time for a good, bottom of the belly laugh. My brother Scott, is so stinkin' handsome it should be a crime. Without fail, whenever we tell the kids we're going to Grandma's house they ask, "Will Uncle Scott be there? And will he wrestle us?!"

Yes, and yes.

Then, of course, there's Uncle Chuck.

He is the head mechanic for the Utah Fire and Rescue Acadamy at Utah Valley University. As usual, Uncle Chuck went out of his way to show us a great time! He let us tag along for his routine maintenance checks giving us all a ride in one of the firetrucks with lights flashing and sirens wailing, and then he let Danny operate the ladder on the back of the truck. The kids were in heaven, they thought it was so cool.

Avery Starts Kindergarten

So when did this happen? My baby girl, my everything, has started school.... WHAT?!?! Why do I feel like this is the beginning of the end? Why do I feel like I will never see her again? Is this normal?! Why am I bombarding myself with questions like, "Is she ready, did I prepare her well enough? Did I teach her to protect herself against strangers and bullies? Will she be respectful and obedient to the teacher?" This is my first time to send my first child to her first day. Thank goodness it only happens once, the next ones better be a lot easier!!

Here's Avery calling Nana and Papa Ron for one last good luck wish as she was walking to Kindergarten.

Avery is very blessed to have in her class five of her best girl friends from the ward. Emma, Emma Jo, Andrea, Caitlyne, and Brielle.

There are also four boys from the ward starting Kindergarten, Gabriel, Kayden, Trenton, and Blake. Three of them are in her class as well, and the other is in all-day Kindergarten. Here's Avery with her good friend Gabriel.

Avery, Brielle, and Caitlyne line up outside the classroom door waiting for their teacher to let them inside. As she walked in she took a quick glance back to wave at me and then yelled, "Bye, Mom, I love you!" I just about lost it. Replace sunglasses now.

Then we all walked back home without her. The boys rode bikes.

Daddy was teaching the boys his cool tricks. Stet was rippin wheelies, and Gage was so determined to get that front wheel off the ground. He kept saying, "Watch, Mom, k?"

Meanwhile Mommy and Lexis just waited....and waited....and pouted, and wondered what Avery was doing every minute. I remember thinking, "I think it's probably getting close to time to go pick her up." That was at 9:38. She'd been in class for 38 minutes. Boy, they were long minutes.

See? Even these two thought so.

Finally it was time to go. This time all the parents were lined up outside the classroom like a flock of hungry seagulls. Mrs. Williams waited for each child to show recognition of someone they knew before she let them leave the classroom.

Avery didn't even look at me or Danny. She saw Stet and got so excited. She ran right up to him and gave him a huge hug!

We're so proud of you, Avery and we're very excited for this new adventure for you! We know you'll do great! Thank you for an unforgettable, un-regrettable five years with you, all day, every day, and for the wonderful example you are setting for your younger siblings. You have taught us much about love and life, and lovin' life.

Gage turns 2!!

We threw a "Tarzan" party where we rocked out to Phil Collins (yes!!) and banged our chests till they were sore, then we popped some corn and watched the movie, of course. Here's Tarzan Gage swinging from the 'vines'.... too bad you can't see the loin cloth!!

Gage is trying to figure out Mr. Potato Head's tongue!

Mmmmm, cake and ice cream! Make a wish!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GAGE!!!! You are the best entertainment this family's seen. Thanks for making us laugh whole heartedly, and for your sweet mischeivous grin.... you rascal. We love you!

I hope you never forget why you're here. your Savior. family is everything. how great you are. you are stronger than you realize.

I hope you ignore your brothers, often. the negatives of life. mean girls. those who say you can't do something. the alarm clock.

I hope you become the very best you can be. whatever it is you want to be. a mommy. fabulous. virtuous, lovely, praiseworthy.

I hope you respect yourself, so others will too. your parents and grandparents. the love of your family. everyone who deserves it. absolute truth.

Days of Summer

Our days of summer are quickly coming to an end, a bitter sweet farewell. I've spent the entire summer HIBERNATING with fans on full blast. When I was finally able to emerge from my cave we spent an afternoon at Town Square for a little back to school shopping, a little lunching, and of course.... a lot of splashing.
