Gage is Moving Up!!

Well, I knew this time would come sooner than later, and it's always a big deal when it does. It's like the official stamp of toddlerhood. The closing of the book of baby. A few weeks ago we moved Gage into a toddler bed. He hasn't even thought twice about it. In fact, I think his first night in the big boy bed he mumbled under his breath, "well, it's about time." He loves his new found freedom of being able to get out of bed when he wakes up, and I love that he still can't open his bedroom door! It's the perfect combination of managed liberation. When he wakes up before Stet he just hangs out, talking, or playing, or looking at books waiting for his big brother to wake up too. Sometimes though he'll knock on the door and say, "Mommy? Daddy?" I love his sweet little voice in the morning.

We've only had one mishap so far. We were three days in when Danny woke me up at about 2am saying, "Jac, do you know where Gage is, he's not in his bed." Adrenaline is a crazy thing. It's amazing how quickly you can go from dead asleep to on your feet, blood pumping, ready to race, wide awake awareness. It only lasted about 15 seconds though, thank goodness! We found him UNDER his bed sound asleep. What a little bug.

What's the best part about moving my baby from his crib to his toddler bed??? I can reach his face to give him kisses while he sleeps.

Sidenote: the crib is now set up in Avery's room in prep for baby girl. Avery makes the crib with pillows and blankets, and tucks her baby dolls and animals into it at night. We even put a chair right next to the crib so she can rock her babies if they wake up... I think she's a little bit excited.

That reminds me. The other day Avery said, "Mom, if something happens to you I will take the baby, and take your boobs and put them on me so I can milk her. I will take care of her Mom, don't worry."

You really have to write a Mommy book... you made me cry with the part about being able to kiss him in his new bed and Avery's comment made me laugh. Hope all is going well with your resident little one. Wish you would post a pic of your baby bump :)

I haven't been on the blogs in a while! What was I thinking, missing all the great happenings! I love your ability to help me remember the sweet tender things that happen as our children grow. Thanks! All the adventures you share are wonderful. What great parents you two are. We love you all so much.
