Train Ride

Our family was invited to join some good friends on a train ride for their son's birthday. We were so excited! When we arrived at the station we took a minute to walk around some of the old engines they had on display.


Then we got our tickets and hung around until the conductor called out, "ALL ABOOOOOAARD!!" They really say it just like the movies, it was pretty cool.


We started out in the "closed car" which, just like it sounds, is all enclosed with bench seating and big windows. This was a first for the kids and they were completely enthralled!


After some snacks we decided to walk over to the open car. I think the whole wind in the face effect really forged the experience into the kids' memories. They were waving and yelling as we passed cars, wagging their tails like puppies in the back of a pickup on the highway.

The kids loved this day and still talk about it often saying, "Mom, maybe someday can we go on a real train again? The one that has no windows, remember?"
